Mile 0              Oxbow Bend. Put in at the eddy just below the penstock that releases water from Ralston Powerhouse.


Mile 1              The North Fork of the Middle Fork enters on the right.


Mile 2.5           Tunnel Chute (IV-V) The tunnel blasted through a narrow ridge is flat and easy, but the dynamited chute leading down to it has sharp sides that can damage boats.  Rapid ends in a big reversal.  Portaging is easy on the left.


Miles 2.7-4.7    Numerous Class III Rapids.


Mile 5              Kanaka Falls (IV+; V above 1500 cfs)  Also called Cartwheel.  At the end of a large pool, the river tumbles off to the right.  Several big holes block the channel, and at the bottom the current sweeps boats toward a rock wall on the right.  Scout or portage on the left.


Miles 5.2-14.2  Pleasant nine mile stretch of Class I and II rapids. Enjoy the paddle and the scenery!


Mile 14.3         Upper Ruck-A-Chucky (IV) Also called Chunder, Centerline 8 foot drop, watch for the rock in the middle!


Mile 14.5         Ruck-A-Chuck- (U) Portage!  Just do not run the 20 foot boulder sieve. Portage on the right.


Mile 14.7         Lower Ruck-A-Chuck (IV) Also called Parallel Parking, Start middle, work left and back to center.


Mile 14.8-16    Numerous Class III+ rapids.


Mile 16           Take-out--Greenwood Bridge site, primitive camping here.
